The Burj Al Arab and Kapoor’s art

The iconic luxury six-star sail-shaped hotel, symbol of Dubai, hosts an exhibition for the first time in 22 years, with unseen works by the artist Anish Kapoor. No longer a wonderful unfathomable fortress, now the most exclusive super-luxury hotel in the world increases the offer for its guests and at the same time opens up to dialogue with the public, involving above all contemporary art lovers. The works of Anish Kapoor, British-Indian sculptor and conceptual artist, on view at the Dubai solo show are in perfect harmony with the Burj Al Arab’s architecture, entering into an intimate relationship with the exterior and interior. Kapoor’s sculptural works, with their abstract biomorphic forms, establish an intimate synergy with visitors changing according to different points of view. A unique visual and sensory experience.

Shiny, mirroring surfaces; rich colours; pure shapes that seem to defy gravity, depth, and the very limits of perception; plays of transparencies that come into harmony with the surrounding nature, reacting to light, sky, to the expanse of the Arabian Gulf sea on which opens the large window of the temporary exhibition space entrusted to Galleria Continua.

The idea of the pop-up gallery is a gradual way to get closer to Dubai “It’s a new adventure. We want to arrive on tiptoe. The place is magical, we are in a building that is an icon of Dubai -tells me Lorenzo Fiaschi, Director and Co-founder of Galleria Continua- The idea is to stay, but we do not give certainties, because we also want to feel good in a context that is important and in which so many differences coexist “. Galleria Continua does not yet have its own permanent exhibition space in Dubai but has been participating in the two main artistic events in the United Arab Emirates for 15 years: Art Dubai and Abu Dhabi Art. Il Burj Al Arab e l’arte di Kapoor

Il lussuoso hotel sei stelle dall’iconica forma a vela simbolo di Dubai ospita una mostra per la prima volta in 22 anni, con inediti dell’artista Anish Kapoor. Non più una meravigliosa fortezza impenetrabile, adesso l’albergo super lusso più esclusivo del mondo accresce l’offerta per i suoi ospiti e al tempo stesso si apre al dialogo con il pubblico, coinvolgendo soprattutto gli appassionati d’arte contemporanea. Le opere di Anish Kapoor, scultore e artista concettuale britannico-indiano, esposte nella personale di Dubai sono in perfetta sintonia con l’architettura del Burj Al Arab, entrando in intima relazione con l’ambiente esterno ed interno. Le opere scultoree di Kapoor, dalle forme astratte biomorfe stabiliscono un’intima sinergia con i visitatori, cambiando a seconda dei diversi punti di vista. Un’esperienza visiva e sensoriale unica. Superfici lucide, specchianti, colori ricchi, forme pure che sembrano sfidare gravità, profondità, i limiti stessi della percezione, giochi di trasparenze che entrano in consonanza con la natura circostante, reagendo a luce, cielo, alla distesa del mare del Golfo Arabico su cui si apre l’ampia vetrata dello spazio espositivo temporaneo affidato alla Galleria Continua.

L’idea della pop up gallery è un modo graduale per avvicinarsi a Dubai “È un’avventura nuova. Vogliamo arrivare in punta di piedi. Il luogo è magico, siamo in un edificio che è un’icona di Dubai -mi racconta Lorenzo Fiaschi, Direttore e Co-fondatore della Galleria Continua- L’intenzione è di poter rimanere, però non diamo certezze, perché vogliamo anche sentirci bene in un contesto che è importante e in cui convivono molte differenze”.

La Galleria Continua non ha ancora un suo spazio espositivo permanente a Dubai ma partecipa da 15 anni ai due principali appuntamenti artistici degli Emirati Arabi Uniti: Art Dubai e Abu Dhabi Art.
